Product description

Brand:  Girsberger, Switzerland www.girsberger.com Designer:  Thierry Aubert Design Connected ID: 3053

From every point of view, AL3 is flawless in appearance and form. Unusually harmonious outer contours impart a general impression of softness. The organic design can be seen in both the chair's entirety as well as in its details – for example in the cross sections of the individual segments belonging to the frame and base. Certain elements, such as the armrests, create intentional breaches in order to give tension to the form. The soft form contrasts with material which is rather less mellow. Frame and base consist of high quality aluminium. Worldwide, AL3 is only the third swivel chair with constructional elements made of this material.Usually, the mechanical adjustment of the backrest force is horizontally located under the seat. The idea which provided the starting point for the development of AL3 (which lasted over three years and necessitated high investments) was to change the position of the mechanical adjustment from horizontal to vertical and, finally, to totally conceal it in the chair's stand pipe. This unique construction
idea of hiding the often unattractively bulky mechanism from view is protected by several patent applications. Thanks to a comfortable three-joint mechanism, the AL3 adapts itself synchronously to every movement of the body in the best possible way. This technique, which was also developed by Girsberger, guarantees optimum support during active sitting. AL3 offers high comfort for users of practically all weights and sizes. "Form before Norm" was the guiding principle during the development of AL3: Aesthetics have been put before technical constraints. AL3 is available in two basic versions, either with mesh covers for seat and backrest or upholstered in leather. As an alternative, the chair can also be ordered with upholstered seat and mesh-covered backrest. The chair comes in one size and can optionally be outfitted with headrest and/or armrests.
AL3 was presented to the public for the first time at the Orgatec in Cologne on October 2008. Market introduction will take place in April 2009.
